Stand Hope. August 9, 2014
August 9th, 2014 will be the second running of the Standhope 60 Kilometer Ultramarathon.
Standhope is literally a breathtaking 37 mile journey through Idaho’s 2nd highest mountain range, known as the Pioneer Mountains.
Runners will reach a high altitude of 11,000 feet above sea level and negotiate over 10,000 feet of vertical ascent over the course of the race. Much of the course is on rough and remote singletrack trail, with much of the course only accessible by foot or by horse.
The event is organized by Ben Blessing. Ben has been running marathons and ultra marathons for 6+ years. He has thus far finished twelve 100 mile (or farther) races, including the notoriously difficult Badwater Ultramarathon through Death Valley. Ben is married and has a young child. His wife has arpkd/chf.
Standhope is very proud to be a fundraiser for the ARPKD/CHF Alliance. In 2013, Standhope raised $450 for the ARPKD/CHF Alliance. In 2014, Ben’s goal is $1,000. Per Ben, “Spread the word so we can make this a special event for everyone involved!”
