Submitting Donations

1.    IImmediately after your event, tally donations. 
 

Please send paperwork and all proceeds and donor information to: ARPKD/CHF Alliance, P.O. Box 70, Kirkwood, PA  17536, within 5 days following the event.

Photocopy all checks and keep copies for cross-reference if needed. 

ALL contributors will be thanked with a thank you letter and provided a receipt if contact information is included.  (Donor information will never be shared.)

The ARPKD/CHF Alliance is a 501c3 non-profit, public charity.  All fundraising events carried out under the ARPKD/CHF Alliance name and logo must adhere to generally accepted accounting procedures (GAAP) for nonprofits.  Please follow the guidelines below.  All donations are tax deductible. 

 
Cash Donations:  Please do NOT send cash.  Convert cash into a check or money order, made payable to the “ARPKD/CHF Alliance”.  If someone gives you cash, please send us the person’s name, address, donation amount and event name so we can properly thank.  If you ask your donors to mail their contribution directly to the ARPKD/CHF Alliance, please ask them to write your name or event somewhere on the check, so we can send you an acknowledgement.

Question: Can I open a bank account, deposit all the donation checks there, than cut a big check to the ARPKD/CHF Alliance?
 

Answer: No, this does not adhere to generally accepted accounting practices for nonprofits.  If you deposit a check made out to the ARPKD/CHF Alliance into a bank account, this is considered “co-mingling” funds.  Secondly, opening a bank account under the organization’s name is illegal.  Lastly, if donors make a check payable to you, then they haven’t made a “donation” to the ARPKD/CHF Alliance.
